The Secretary-General will?convene?the SDG Moment, in line with General Assembly resolution 74/4, under this year’s theme, “Together, We Can Get There.” The theme reflects both the urgency and optimism of the moment: despite mounting challenges, the Goals?remain?within reach provided that the international community acts collectively, scales proven solutions and accelerates implementation.?

The record of the past decade?demonstrates?that determined action can deliver results. The??shows that of the 139 targets with available trend data, 36 per cent are on track or making moderate progress, an improvement on the year before. Progress across the Goals is happening, but it?remains?too slow and too uneven. Financing shortfalls, climate shocks, debt distress,?conflict?and inequality continue to undermine progress,?Despite?this, transformation?remains?within reach, but accelerating progress across the Goals demands integrated solutions at scale, sustained investment, stronger partnerships, and renewed international solidarity.??

2026 SDG MOMENT: TOGETHER, WE CAN DO IT

The 2026 SDG Moment will?showcase?progress and highlight the catalytic actions, partnerships and investments needed to close implementation gaps and accelerate progress. We stand at the threshold of the decisive final stretch to 2030, and as?an??important?milestone on the road to the 2027 SDG Summit,?this year’s?SDG Moment aims?to??foster?renewed commitment, mobilize support and sustain momentum towards the achievement of the Goals.?

Member States will highlight national efforts to advance the SDGs, share how they are addressing interconnected global challenges, and?identify?the support and partnerships?required?to drive faster progress. Dialogue sessions?will bring together governments, civil society, the private sector,?youth?and other stakeholders including the United Nations system?to?explore?practical pathways?to?address the structural barriers impeding progress, including debt distress, widening inequalities and the opportunities and challenges associated with artificial intelligence. SDG Leaders and Champions will?showcase?individual and community-led action,?demonstrating?how people around the world are?driving?progress towards the?SDGs. Together, they will highlight that the promise of the?2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development?for people, planet, prosperity, peace, and partnership?remains?within reach, and that accelerated action can deliver on that promise for all.?

DRAFT PROGRAMME?

The event will take place on 18 September 2026, from 10:00 to 13:00, in the United Nations General Assembly Hall. The SDG Moment will have four main segments:?

PARTICIPATION?

All Member States delegations are invited to attend the SDG Moment at the highest level. To?facilitate?planning and coordination, Missions are invited to confirm the size and level of their delegation by contacting?decadeofaction@un.org.?

Civil society representatives, private sector, academia, experts, youth, and other stakeholders will also be invited to the event.?
