The Secretary-General will\u00a0convene\u00a0the SDG Moment, in line with General Assembly resolution 74\/4, under this year\u2019s theme, \u201cTogether, We Can Get There.\u201d The theme reflects both the urgency and optimism of the moment: despite mounting challenges, the Goals\u00a0remain\u00a0within reach provided that the international community acts collectively, scales proven solutions and accelerates implementation.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The record of the past decade\u00a0demonstrates\u00a0that determined action can deliver results. The\u00a0Sustainable Development Goals Report 2026<\/a><\/span>\u00a0shows that of the 139 targets with available trend data, 36 per cent are on track or making moderate progress, an improvement on the year before. Progress across the Goals is happening, but it\u00a0remains\u00a0too slow and too uneven. Financing shortfalls, climate shocks, debt distress,\u00a0conflict\u00a0and inequality continue to undermine progress,\u00a0Despite\u00a0this, transformation\u00a0remains\u00a0within reach, but accelerating progress across the Goals demands integrated solutions at scale, sustained investment, stronger partnerships, and renewed international solidarity.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

2026 SDG MOMENT: TOGETHER, WE CAN DO IT<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

The 2026 SDG Moment will\u00a0showcase\u00a0progress and highlight the catalytic actions, partnerships and investments needed to close implementation gaps and accelerate progress. We stand at the threshold of the decisive final stretch to 2030, and as\u00a0an\u00a0\u00a0important\u00a0milestone on the road to the 2027 SDG Summit,\u00a0this year\u2019s\u00a0SDG Moment aims\u00a0to\u00a0\u00a0foster\u00a0renewed commitment, mobilize support and sustain momentum towards the achievement of the Goals.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Member States will highlight national efforts to advance the SDGs, share how they are addressing interconnected global challenges, and\u00a0identify\u00a0the support and partnerships\u00a0required\u00a0to drive faster progress. Dialogue sessions\u00a0will bring together governments, civil society, the private sector,\u00a0youth\u00a0and other stakeholders including the United Nations system\u00a0to\u00a0explore\u00a0practical pathways\u00a0to\u00a0address the structural barriers impeding progress, including debt distress, widening inequalities and the opportunities and challenges associated with artificial intelligence. SDG Leaders and Champions will\u00a0showcase\u00a0individual and community-led action,\u00a0demonstrating\u00a0how people around the world are\u00a0driving\u00a0progress towards the\u00a0SDGs. Together, they will highlight that the promise of the\u00a02030 Agenda for Sustainable Development\u00a0for people, planet, prosperity, peace, and partnership\u00a0remains\u00a0within reach, and that accelerated action can deliver on that promise for all.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
