WHAT:<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 SDG 16 High-Level Conference 2024 <\/strong><\/p>\n

Conflict, inequality, corruption and a failure to respect human rights continue to pose intersecting and growing challenges to societies worldwide. The SDG 16 High-Level Conference<\/strong><\/a> <\/span>takes place at a time when peace, justice and inclusive, effective, and accountable institutions are needed more than ever. The Conference will provide a high-level platform to assess and promote SDG 16 as a key enabler of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and all the Sustainable Development Goals<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n

The Conference will assess progress and challenges related to SDG 16, foster the sharing of experiences and insights and help identify good practices that can accelerate implementation. It will highlight the catalytic effect that progress on SDG 16 can have on achieving sustainable development and addressing the intersecting crises facing the world. The outcomes of the Conference will support the in-depth review of SDG 16 at the 2024 High-level Political Forum for Sustainable Development<\/a><\/span>. It will also inform the process towards the Summit of the Future<\/a><\/span> in September 2024.<\/p>\n

The Conference will feature four thematic panel sessions on: 1) Promoting peaceful societies; 2) Promoting the rule of law, equal access to justice, and the fight against corruption and organized crime; 3) Developing effective, accountable and transparent institutions at all levels; and 4) Building more inclusive societies. It will also include the presentation by civil society stakeholders of an updated \u201cCivil Society Declaration on SDG 16+<\/span>\u201d.<\/a><\/p>\n

The Conference is organized by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ DESA), the International Development Law Organization (IDLO) and the Permanent Mission of Italy to the United Nations.<\/p>\n
