United Nations ECOSOC Forum on Financing for Development <\/strong>
\n\u201cFinancing for Sustainable Development:
\nFollow-up to the\u00a0<\/strong>Addis Ababa Action Agenda\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nThe inaugural session of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ ECOSOC Forum on Financing for Development is the first event to follow up on last year\u2019s Third International Conference on Financing for Development and the commitments made in the Addis Ababa Action Agenda (Addis Agenda), which was adopted in July 2015.<\/p>\n

Established by the Addis Agenda as the centrepiece of the strengthened Financing for Development monitoring process, the 3-day Forum aims to track progress and identify gaps and challenges to the means of implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), monitor the financing for development outcomes and promote the sharing of lessons from experiences at the national and regional levels.<\/p>\n

The Forum will result in an intergovernmentally agreed outcome that will feed into the overall review of the implementation of the 2030 Agenda at the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development taking place at Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ headquarters in July this year.<\/p>\n

About the Addis Ababa Action Agenda<\/strong>
\nThe Addis Abba Action Agenda (Addis Agenda) was adopted by world leaders at the Third International Conference on Financing for Development in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in July 2015. The Addis Agenda creates a coherent framework to address financing and create an enabling environment to achieve the 2030 Agenda.<\/p>\n

The Addis Agenda aims to mobilize public finance, set appropriate public policies and regulatory frameworks to unlock private finance, trade opportunities and technological development, and incentivize changes in consumption, production and investment patterns. More than just a framework, the Addis Agenda embodies several hundred concrete actions that Member States of the United Nations have pledged to undertake individually and collectively.<\/p>\n
