  {"id":20744,"date":"2016-09-23T20:41:30","date_gmt":"2016-09-23T20:41:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.un.org\/sustainabledevelopment\/?p=20744"},"modified":"2018-04-22T11:57:15","modified_gmt":"2018-04-22T15:57:15","slug":"leymah-gbowee-urges-commitment-to-sdgs-implementation-at-sdgs-coming-to-life","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.un.org\/sustainabledevelopment\/blog\/2016\/09\/leymah-gbowee-urges-commitment-to-sdgs-implementation-at-sdgs-coming-to-life\/","title":{"rendered":"Leymah Gbowee urges commitment to SDGs implementation at \u201cSDGs Coming to Life\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On 23 September 2016, Nobel Laureate and SDG Advocate Leymah Gbowee during the high-level side event, \u2018SDGs Coming to Life: Envisioning a Common and Resilient Future,\u2019 organized in conjunction with the 71st Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ General Assembly on the 23rd of September 2016.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is not just enough for governments to say \u2018we have national development agenda that incorporates the SDGs\u2019 if your budget is not aligned with the Goals,\u201d Gbowee said.<\/p>\n<p>Gbowee joined the high-level event with Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon, Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Development Group Chair Helen Clark, as well as foreign ministers from Germany, Somalia, Burkina Faso, and Norway.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe live in times of unprecedented opportunities as well as unprecedented global challenges. These challenges threaten to reverse development gains.
