Photo: Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ News\/Vibhu Mishra\n\t\t\t\t<\/dd><\/dl><br style=\"clear: both\" \/>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n<div id=\"fullstory\">\n<p>Also speaking at the opening, Hiroshi Kuniyoshi, the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵIDO Deputy Director General and Managing Director of External Relations and Field Representation, highlighted the importance of global partnerships for sustainable development.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFostering entrepreneurship and innovation, and promoting impact investment [\u2026] is more important today than ever before, as we all work together worldwide towards achieving the 2030 Agenda,\u201d he said, adding:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe role of impact investment and innovation is further highlighted by the SDGs, and especially\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sustainabledevelopment.un.org\/sdg9\">Goal 9<\/a>, which seeks to &#8216;build resilient infrastructure, promote sustainable industrialization and foster innovation&#8217;.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In his remarks, Mr. Kuniyoshi highlighted Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵIDO&#8217;s collaboration with Bahrain on programmes promoting investment and economic empowerment of youth and women through entrepreneurship development and support systems.<\/p>\n<p>Further, recalling the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/undocs.org\/A\/69\/748\">Manama Declaration<\/a>, adopted at the First International Entrepreneurs Investment Forum, in 2015, the senior Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵIDO official called for a coordinated and inclusive approaching in promoting entrepreneurship involving all stakeholders, including civil society and academia.<\/p>\n<p>The opening session also saw the designation of Adnan Kassar, a prominent business leader from Lebanon, as the Honorary Chairman of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Maritime-Continental Silk Road Cities Alliance.<\/p>\n<p>On today&#8217;s agenda at the World Forum are keynote addresses by business leaders, a plenary session on the Maritime-Continental Silk Road, a side event on private sector engagement for SDGs in Bahrain, and bilateral meetings.<\/p>\n<p><em>Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ News is on location in Manama, Bahrain, covering the Forum and its associated events.
