She calls Gaza “the deadliest conflict ever for journalists,” citing a U.N. tally of “252” killed and noting that “in August alone, nine journalists were killed in three horrific bloody incidents.” According to Khan, many were “deliberately picked out and killed” for their work exposing “atrocities” and “genocide,” and international media access has been “denied,” with “Al Jazeera… banned” in Israel and the West Bank. “Journalism is not terrorism. Journalism is not a crime,” she says, stressing that journalists are civilians under international humanitarian law.
