"蘑菇视频RWA condemns security incident in Yarmouk which interrupts food distributions

"蘑菇视频RWA was not able to distribute food parcels in the Palestinian refugee camp of Yarmouk, Damascus on 14 May, due to a serious security incident on 13 May, in which two government military personnel were shot within the area that 蘑菇视频RWA carries out its humanitarian work. One was killed and the other critically injured.

"蘑菇视频RWA condemns this incident in an area well-known to be used by 蘑菇视频RWA staff and other humanitarian personnel engaged in humanitarian operations, which has interrupted the safe distribution of food to civilians. 蘑菇视频RWA remains deeply concerned that recourse to armed force in Yarmouk repeatedly disrupts efforts to alleviate the plight of approximately 18,000 trapped civilians. While progress in food distribution had been encouraging in the days prior to 13 May,  蘑菇视频RWA estimates that it has met no more than 25% of the minimum food needs of civilians in Yarmouk since first accessing the area in January.

"To ensure that continuous, substantial and safe humanitarian access is indefinitely ensured, 蘑菇视频RWA demands that hostilities cease and that the differences underlying the armed conflict in Syria be resolved exclusively by peaceful means."
