Turkey gives $250,000 for the Lebanon Nahr el-Bared Flash Appeal
Responding to Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA’s Flash Appeal for $12.7 million launched on 4 June the government of Turkey informed the Agency this week that a contribution of $250,000 was on its way.
Turkey has been a regular contributor to Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA and is a member of Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA’s Advisory Commission. The Flash Appeal is for funds to help the Agency deal with the immediate needs of the refugees affected by the fighting in Nahr el-Bared camp in north Lebanon.
It is estimated 6,249 Palestine refugee families have fled the fighting Nahr el-Bared Camp. Living conditions in the neighbouring Beddawi Camp have become very difficult because of the influx of civilians from Nahr el-Bared.
Since the beginning of the current crisis in Nahr el-Bared Camp, Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA’s teachers at Majdal French KG and School in Beddawi Camp have been organising art and handicraft activities as well as theatre for more than 150 children on a daily bases.
On Monday, 2 July starting at 11:00am they will organise in Majdal School a play called, "Let me live" written and performed by a group of children and an exhibition of their drawing painting and handicraft. Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA invites people to attend to see this play and hear the children express, in their own words what they are feeling and enduring.
