EIGHT Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA TRAINEES KILLED IN LEBANON

VIENNA, 7 June (Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA) — Eight people were killed on Saturday, 5 June when a rocket hit a bus run by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA) south of Beirut.

Seven of the victims were women trainee teachers from Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA's Training Centre at Siblin, and the eighth was an instructor.

Hostilities in southern Lebanon interrupted ration distribution at Sidon, Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA officials reported. They have taken heavy Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA vehicles off the road to conserve fuel stocks, which cannot at present be replenished because of local shortage.

The Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA provides education, health and relief services to about 226,000 registered Palestine refugees in Lebanon.
