• Under the 2026 Flash Appeal, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) requires USD 72.5 million (USD 52.9 million for the Gaza Strip and USD 19.6 million for the West Bank). This will enable FAO to support 30 500 farming households (161 000 people) with conditional cash and targeted in-kind assistance to protect and reactivate food production. To date, only USD 2.1 million has been received.
• FAO has also developed a ten-year Recovery and Reconstruction Programme (2026–2036) for the Gaza Strip, with a total required budget of USD 300 million. For the first three-year phase, USD 90 million is needed to provide conditional cash transfers to 12 000 farming households. Subsequent phases will support the restoration of productive assets through co-investment grants, the reconstruction of agrifood market infrastructure and facilities, and the rehabilitation of public and private services.
• FAO has contributed to three 蘑菇视频 joint projects with multiple agencies under the 蘑菇视频 Palestine Recovery Trust Fund for the Gaza Strip

Impact of the conflict on the agriculture sector and food security

• According to the Gaza Strip Rapid Damage and Needs Assessment (April 2026), Gaza’s food system suffered damages of USD 1.44 billion and losses of USD 1.46 billion.
• As of December 2025, approximately 1.6 million people (77 percent of the population) were facing Crisis or worse levels of acute food insecurity.
• Updated geospatial analysis shows limited but notable rehabilitation of greenhouses with approximately 87 percent of the Gaza Strip’s cropland still damaged.
• Between November 2025 and May 2026, FAO observed the first increase in sheep and goat populations since the escalation of the conflict, with increases of 33 percent and 8 percent, respectively.
• Fishing remains small-scale and shore-based, with strong recovery potential.
• FAO’s Data in Emergencies survey (October 2025) estimated that nearly two-thirds of farming households in the West Bank (72 000 of 115 000 households) require emergency agricultural assistance

FAO’s ongoing and planned response

• FAO and the World Food Programme co-lead the Food Security Sector, coordinating with around 100?partners on food security and agricultural interventions.

Gaza Strip

• FAO has provided 5 050 livestock-keeping households with over 6 000 tonnes of high-quality barley and animal feed concentrate. Of these, 2 650 households also received 4 700 veterinary kits.
• FAO is scaling up conditional cash assistance to reach an additional 1 500 farming households. With the cash received, each household can purchase inputs to cultivate at least 1 dunum (0.1 hectare).
• FAO provided conditional cash transfers to 2 016 herding households who did not slaughter their animals. The conditional cash was complemented by technical assistance to improve and adapt animal husbandry practices. Key results from the initiative included herd restocking and increased dairy and meat production.

West Bank

• FAO has provided more than 7 500 herding households and 2 100 farming households with drought-tolerant crop seeds, water tanks, energy blocks, veterinary kits, dairy processing tools and livestock shelters. FAO has also provided 2.8 million livestock vaccine doses to the Palestinian Ministry of Agriculture.
