Beirut, 28 November (Communication and Information Unit)–<\/strong>\u00a0For the first time, Lebanese musician Marcel Khalife joins ESCWA for the commemoration of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People tomorrow Wednesday 29 November at the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ House, Riad El-Solh Square, Beirut.<\/p>\n

The annual ceremony this year starts\u00a0at<\/u><\/strong>\u00a010:00 am<\/u><\/strong>\u00a0with the statement of Palestine to be delivered by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Riyad Al-Maliki, and the statement of Lebanon to be addressed by the Chairman of the Lebanese-Palestinian Dialogue Committee, Mr. Hassan Mneimneh who will be also representing the Lebanese President of the Council of Ministers, Mr. Saad Hariri.<\/p>\n

The ceremony will also see the message of the United Nations Secretary-General and the statement of ESCWA, both to be delivered by the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Under-Secretary-General and the Executive Secretary of ESCWA, Mr. Mohamed Ali Alhakim.<\/p>\n

Lebanese writer Elias Khoury and Palestinian filmmaker Mai Masri will give keynote statements.<\/p>\n

Participants on this special occasion include a score of diplomatic and official dignitaries as well as a host of delegates from the civil society.<\/p>\n

The International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People is marked in accordance with the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ General Assembly Resolutions 32\/40B of 2 December 1977 and 64\/17 of 21 January 2010. The Resolutions encouraged Member States to continue to give the widest support and publicity to the observance of the Day of Solidarity.<\/p>\n
