Human Rights Council resolutions <\/strong><\/span>S-1\/1<\/strong><\/a> <\/span>and <\/strong><\/span>S-3\/1<\/strong><\/a><\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

29.   On 20 June 2007, the representative of Pakistan (on behalf of the Organization of the Islamic Conference and the Group of Arab States) introduced draft resolution <\/span>A\/HRC\/5\/L.5<\/a>, sponsored by Pakistan (on behalf of the Organization of the Islamic Conference) and the Sudan (on behalf of the Group of Arab States). Cuba subsequently joined the sponsors. <\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

\n

30.   In accordance with rule 153 of the rules of procedure of the General Assembly, the attention of the Council was drawn to the estimated administrative and programme budget implications* of the draft resolution.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

31.   Statements in connection with the draft resolution were made by the observers for Israel and Palestine, as concerned countries, or parties. <\/p><\/div>\n

\n

32.   The draft resolution was adopted without a vote.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

33.   Statements in explanation of vote after the vote were made by the representatives of Canada and Germany (on behalf of the European Union). <\/p><\/div>\n

Human rights situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

41.   On 20 June, the President informed the Council that the main sponsors of draft decision <\/span>A\/HRC\/4\/L.4<\/a> entitled “Human rights situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory” (which had been deferred to the fifth session pursuant to Council resolution 4\/105 of 30 March 2007) had decided to withdraw the draft decision. <\/span><\/p><\/div>\n
