WHO input will consist of support<br \/>\nto training.&nbsp;&nbsp;supply of equipment and essential consultant<br \/>\nservices. The full responsibility for technical supervision<br \/>\nof the primary health care research work, which will be<br \/>\nundertaken by each centre, will rest with WHO.&nbsp;&nbsp;The overall<br \/>\nobjective of the work will be to support health systems<br \/>\nresearch that will be used in providing the entire local<br \/>\npopulation with primary health care, using the most<br \/>\nappropriate technology. There has been steady progress in the<br \/>\nfollowing health centres:\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<div style=\"margin-left:80px;\">\n\t\t\t\t<br \/>\nCentre in Primary Health Care, work is under way at the<br \/>\nHealth Service Research Centre, where specific research<br \/>\nprojects have already started. These projects will<br \/>\ninclude an evaluation of a plan for expanded primary<br \/>\nhealth care in the villages of the area; evaluative<br \/>\nstudies of the practices and outcome of the work of<br \/>\ntraditional birth attendants as a component of primary<br \/>\nhealth care;&nbsp;&nbsp;continuation of previous studies of growth<br \/>\nand development of infants and children; evaluative<br \/>\nstudies on the effects of the intensive programme of<br \/>\nimmunization against tetanus neonatorum and adult<br \/>\ntetanus; evaluation of the routine immunization<br \/>\nprogramme for the prevention of rubella; a study to<br \/>\nassess the utilization and impact of oral rehydration<br \/>\ntherapy in primary health care and in hospital centres;<br \/>\nbasic epidemiological studies of acute respiratory<br \/>\ndiseases and of villages in the area, in the<br \/>\nepidemiology of hepatitis and of brucellosis, as well as<br \/>\nstudies related to nutrition, breast-feeding and<br \/>\nanaemia;\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<div style=\"margin-left:80px;\">\n\t\t\t\t<br \/>\nInformation Centre of the health services of Gaza will<br \/>\nalso be designated a WHO Collaborating Centre. It is<br \/>\nanticipated that a costed work plan for specific<br \/>\nactivities will be presented to the authorities<br \/>\nconcerned in the very near future;\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<div style=\"margin-left:80px;\">\n\t\t\t\t<br \/>\nwhich will be primarily on health manpower research in<br \/>\nrelation to primary health care, wild be designated at<\/p>\n<p>from Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµICEF general resources, which have already been<br \/>\napproved and allocated by the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµICEF Executive Board for<\/p>\n<p>Arab Republic\n\t\t\t\t<\/p><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin-left:80px;\">\n\t\t\t\t6.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<div style=\"margin-left:80px;\">\n\t\t\t\t93. Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµIDO plans to undertake studies for:\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div style=\"margin-left:80px;\">\n\t\t\t\t<br \/>\nalready in the formulation stage;\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div style=\"margin-left:80px;\">\n\t\t\t\t<br \/>\nsecured;&nbsp;&nbsp;its establishment is expected in the near future.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div style=\"margin-left:80px;\">\n\t\t\t\t7.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<div style=\"margin-left:80px;\">\n\t\t\t\t94. April to 19 May 1985, the Commission on Human Settlements adopted<br \/>\nresolution 8\/9, entitled &quot;Activities for the International Year of<br \/>\nShelter for the Homeless in the occupied Palestinian territories&quot;,<br \/>\n9\/ in which it requested the Executive Director to prepare &quot;a<br \/>\nstudy on the housing of the Palestinian population in the occupied<br \/>\nterritories in co-ordination with the Palestine Liberation<br \/>\nOrganization and concerned United Nations agencies&quot;. The Executive<br \/>\nDirector was requested to submit the study to the Commission at<br \/>\nits ninth session. Pursuant to the above request, Habitat has<br \/>\nrecruited two consultants to assist with the preparation of the<br \/>\nstudy, which will, inter alia, include a review of the current<br \/>\nhuman settlement situation in the occupied Palestinian territories<br \/>\nand proposals for a comprehensive housing programme for the<br \/>\nPalestinian population in those territories on the occasion of the<br \/>\nInternational Year of Shelter for the Homeless (1987).\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div style=\"margin-left:80px;\">\n\t\t\t\t8. Page 24, paragraph 99\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div style=\"margin-left:80px;\">\n\t\t\t\t<br \/>\nInternational Labour Conference (June 1985), the Director-General<br \/>\nhad expressed the hope that greater resources would be made<br \/>\navailable for the assistance of workers in the occupied<br \/>\nterritories in order to enable ILO to increase its aid in the<br \/>\nareas within its competence.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div style=\"margin-left:80px;\">\n\t\t\t\t9. Page 26, paragraph 108\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<div style=\"margin-left:80px;\">\n\t\t\t\t108. Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµIDO plans to undertake training programmed specifically<br \/>\ndesigned for the Palestinian people in co-operation with the<br \/>\nInternational Centre for Advanced Technical and Vocational<br \/>\nTraining. The training programmed will consist of the following:\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<div style=\"margin-left:80px;\">\n\t\t\t\tindustrial enterprises, for which funds have been secured;<br \/>\nimplementation of the programme is expected to commence in the<br \/>\nnear future;\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div style=\"margin-left:80px;\">\n\t\t\t\t<br \/>\ntraining programmed and workshops arranged as a part of the<br \/>\nregular activities.\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div style=\"margin-left:80px;\">\n\t\t\t\t10.
