Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA and AAAID cooperate to help poor Palestine refugees in Gaza and Lebanon<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Relief and Works Agency (Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA) and the Arab Authority for Agricultural Investment and Development (AAAID) are cooperating again to help poor Palestine refuges in Gaza and Lebanon.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

Today, Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA’s Commissioner-General Ms. Karen Koning AbuZayd has signed three agreements with AAAID’s President, H.E. Mr. Abdul Kareem Al-Amri. The ceremony took place in Dubai.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

The first agreement of US$ 2 million will help Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA create jobs mainly related to agriculture and fishery in Gaza. The number of beneficiaries directly supported by this funding is 2,312 who will in turn support approximately 11,560 dependents <\/p><\/div>\n

\n

AAAID is also assisting Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA with the reconstruction of houses belonging to extreme poor in South Lebanon, those would could not otherwise afford a decent place to live. The Arab Authority is donating US$ 250,000 towards this project.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

AAAID is also contributing US$ 300,000 for a joint Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA\/FAO project aiming at enabling those with no resources to start their own agricultural activities, developing the capacity of the agricultural sector in South Lebanon, and building and improving the technical capacity of the Palestine refugee farmers for better planning and production<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

The agreement worth US$ 2.55 million will raise AAAID’s total donations to the Agency at US$6.15 million in less than two years.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

The Commissioner General expressed her deep appreciation to AAAID for its continued support to Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA and the refugees it serves.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n
