Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA has received an in-kind contribution of canned meat for poor refugees in Gaza from the World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY). The generous contribution of over 180,000 cans of corned beef, worth more than US$ 113,000 has recently arrived in Gaza where it will be distributed to poor refugees as part of the Agency’s emergency food assistance programme.<\/p><\/div>\n

Thanking WAMY for the donation, Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA Representative of the Commissioner-General Mr Peter Ford remarked: “WAMY’s generosity comes at an important time for the Agency as Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA is currently facing critical shortages in funds for food aid distribution to the most needy refugees. This gratefully received contribution from WAMY will go towards relieving the current burden on the Agency and the refugees.”<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

A Riyadh-based NGO, WAMY has previously cooperated with Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA in Lebanon and the occupied Palestinian territory, having funded several interventions in 2009 and 2010, including scholarships in Lebanon and cash assistance for poor refugees in Jerusalem.<\/p><\/div>\n
