H.E. Mr. Edward Peck<\/u><\/strong> is a former US diplomat who was aboard the Gaza flotilla that was intercepted on 31 May 2010. His diplomatic career, which spanned 32 years, included stints in a number of US embassies, including as Chief of Mission in Iraq and Mauritania. He will give an eyewitness account of his recent experience on the flotilla.<\/p><\/div>\n

H.E. Mr. Paul Badji<\/u><\/strong> is the Permanent Representative of Senegal to the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ. He also serves as Chairman of the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People.<\/p><\/div>\n

H.E. Mr. Riyad Mansour<\/u><\/strong> is the Permanent Observer of Palestine to the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ.<\/p><\/div>\n

The press conference will follow a meeting of the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, which will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, 9 June 2010, in Conference Room 1 (NLB). The meeting will be open to the media.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

BACKGROÄ¢¹½ÊÓƵD<\/u><\/strong>: <\/p>\n<\/td>\n

The Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People was established in 1975 by the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ General Assembly. Its mandated objective is to promote the realization of the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people; raise international awareness on the question of Palestine; mobilize international support for and assistance to the Palestinian people; and work towards a peaceful settlement of the question of Palestine. The Committee strongly supports the objective of two States, Israel and Palestine, living side by side within secure and recognized borders.<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
