Statement on the Situation at the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA Compound in Gaza<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA is concerned about the plight of 16 people, all non-staff members, who have taken shelter in the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA compound in Gaza. We understand that they were part of a group who had gathered at the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA HQ calling for Palestinian reconciliation. All parties concerned are working to solve the situation peacefully and without violence. As a Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Agency, Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA’s actions are in keeping with the principles and practice of Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ neutrality and human rights for all. We have notified the United Nations Humanitarian Co-ordinator who is following the case closely. Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA has appealed to the relevant authorities in Gaza to allow these sixteen people safe passage from the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA compound and to guarantee their safety. Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ will continue to assess the situation and the circumstances of the 16 cases.<\/p>\n
