Concept Note – Stockholm International Donor Conference on the Humanitarian situation in the Palestinian Territories<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

The International donor conference in Stockholm will address the urgent humanitarian situation in the Palestinian Territories. The Governments of Sweden, Norway and Spain are co-hosting the conference in close consultation with the United Nations and the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. The conference is a follow-up to a technical meeting on the same topic held in Geneva on 14 July 2006.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ will present an assessment of the humanitarian situation and the Palestinian President's office will inform about the pressing humanitarian needs. The Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ appeal, launched in May, is far from fully covered and the needs have increased since the appeal was launched.<\/p><\/div>\n

To encourage the international community to respond to the immediate needs, the conference in Stockholm will focus on humanitarian access, relief and early recovery.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

Based on the assessments of humanitarian needs presented by the United Nations, in co-operation with the Palestinian President's Office, the main purposes of the conference is to mobilize financial resources to cover the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ appeal and to raise awareness regarding the need of early recovery operations in the Palestinian Territories.<\/p><\/div>\n

The outcome of the conference should reflect a deeper understanding of the humanitarian situation in the Palestinian Territories and a commitment of the International community to contribute financially to relief and early recovery.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
