I\u2019ve been asking St\u00e9phane [Dujarric] about two Jordanians in custody in Israel, and he said, \u201cI\u2019ll get back to you,\u201d and he didn\u2019t.\u00a0 And I reminded him again, and he didn\u2019t get back to me.\u00a0 There are two Jordanians in Israeli custody, Heba al\u2011Labadi, she was arrested on 20\u00a0August, given five months\u2019 detention, administrative detention; and then Abdul Rahman Miri, also arrested early September.\u00a0 They both going on a hunger strike.\u00a0 It\u2019s now becoming viral.\u00a0 The Jordanian Government withdrew their ambassador yesterday, and yet we didn\u2019t hear neither from [Nickolay] Mladenov or from the Secretary\u2011General or from the Spokesman.\u00a0 Can you explain that, please?<\/p>\n
Deputy Spokesman<\/u>:\u00a0 Well, we believe that everyone who is under detention should be given their due process rights and that is the case here, and we would insist on that in this particular instance.<\/p>\n
Question<\/u>:\u00a0 Heba now is in the hospital, and she is tied.\u00a0 Her legs are tied to the hospital bed because she\u2019s been on hunger strike.\u00a0 Her weight is going down.\u00a0 She\u2019s might lose her life in the next weeks or so.\u00a0 We don\u2019t know.\u00a0 I mean, if the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ does not put a smaller weight into this moral question, then what is the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ doing in this case? \u00a0She has not been accused of anything.<\/p>\n
Deputy Spokesman<\/u>:\u00a0 Yeah, and, again, there\u2019s an important point, and this is something Mr. Mladenov\u2026 \u00a0[cell phone ringing] \u00a0This is something that Mr. Mladenov and his offices have raised repeatedly, is that all of those detained must be charged or else\u2026 we have said, if they\u2019re not charged and brought to trial with their full due process rights, they must be released.<\/p>\n
