The funds will support the provision of Personal Protective Equipment and expand the capacity of intensive care units, especially in Gaza, among other areas.<\/p>\n<p>\/&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>**<u>Senior Personnel Appointment<\/u><\/p>\n<p>And finally, a senior personnel announcement.\u00a0 Today, the Secretary-General, following consultations with the Advisory Commission of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA), is\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/press\/en\/2020\/sga1951.doc.htm\">appointing Philippe Lazzarini of Switzerland as the Agency\u2019s new Commissioner-General<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Secretary-General wishes to extend his appreciation and gratitude to Christian Saunders, who will continue to serve as Acting Commissioner-General until Mr.\u00a0Lazzarini assumes his post.<\/p>\n<p>Mr.\u00a0Lazzarini brings to the position more than 30\u00a0years of experience in humanitarian assistance and international coordination in conflict and post-conflict areas with the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ, the International Committee for the Red Cross (ICRC) and the private sector.\u00a0 And, most recently he served in Lebanon as Deputy Special Coordinator, as well as Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator.<\/p>\n<p>All right.\u00a0 I\u2019ve been getting in your questions via text, and I\u2019ll try to answer them.<\/p>\n<p>\/&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>HIGHLIGHTS OF THE U.N.
