The Committee and the Division for Palestinian Rights of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Secretariat provide the information \u201cas is\u201d without warranty of any kind, and do not accept any responsibility or liability for the accuracy, or reliability of the information contained in the websites linked in the newsletter.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>NGO Action News<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>5\u00a0 and 12\u00a0 January 2018<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><u>Global<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>From 2 to 3 March, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rsc.ox.ac.uk\/study\/short-courses\/palestine-refugees\"><u>Oxford University\u2019s Refugee Studies Center<\/u><\/a> is organizing at the British Institute in Amman a course on \u201c<em>Palestine Refugees and International Law<\/em>\u201d.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Referring to their support for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.haaretz.com\/israel-news\/1.833502\"><u>Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions<\/u><\/a> (BDS) movement, the Israeli Ministry of Strategic Affairs has decided to bar members of 20 civil society organizations from entering Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territory. According to press reports of 7 January, the organizations listed include the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.afsc.org\/story\/afsc-among-human-rights-orgs-barred-israel\"><u>American Friends Service Committee<\/u><\/a> (AFSC), the <a href=\"https:\/\/uscpr.org\/uscpr-statement-israeli-blacklist-palestinian-rights-organizations\/\"><u>US Campaign for Palestinian Rights<\/u><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/jewishvoiceforpeace.org\/israel-includes-jewish-voice-peace-bds-ban-list-supporting-palestinian-human-rights\/\"><u>Jewish Voice for Peace<\/u><\/a> as well as the BDS movements in Chile and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bdssouthafrica.com\/post\/israeli-government-blacklists-south-african-ngo\/\"><u>South Africa<\/u><\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><u>Middle East<\/u><\/strong><u>\u00a0<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/zochrot.org\/en\/event\/56349\"><u>Zochrot<\/u><\/a> is calling for proposals for films to be screened at the sixth edition of the 48mm Film Festival <em>\u201cFrom Nakba to Return\u201d<\/em>, scheduled to take place in Tel Aviv in December 2018. The deadline for submission is 15 May 2018.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>On 11 January, <a href=\"http:\/\/peacenow.org.il\/en\/higher-planning-committee-approves-1122-new-settlement-housing-units\"><u>Peace Now<\/u><\/a> reported the decision by the Israeli Civil Administration\u2019s Higher Planning Committee to approve a total of 1,122 new housing units in 20 illegal Israeli settlements and outposts throughout the occupied West Bank.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Based on monitoring activities conducted since 2005, <a href=\"https:\/\/s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com\/files.yesh-din.org\/December+2017+Law+Enforcement+Datasheet\/LAW+ENFORCEMENT+Data+12.17+-+ENGLISH.pdf\">Yesh Din-Volunteers for Human Rights<\/a> released an update on <em>\u201cLaw Enforcement on Israeli Civilians in the West Bank\u201d<\/em>. The document features the findings of the organization regarding investigations by the Israel Police of offences perpetrated, among others, by Israeli settlers against Palestinians and their property in the occupied West Bank.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>On 4 January, Hagai El-Ad, executive director of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.haaretz.com\/opinion\/.premium-1.832938\"><u>B\u2019Tselem<\/u><\/a>, wrote for the Israeli newspaper <em>Ha\u2019aretz<\/em> the op-ed <em>\u201cIsrael\u2019s Show Trial of Ahed Tamimi\u201d<\/em>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>On 4 January, <a href=\"http:\/\/addameer.org\/news\/palestinian-human-rights-organizations-condemn-israeli-death-penalty-bill\"><u>Addameer<\/u><\/a> and other Palestinian human rights organizations issued a statement condemning a bill sanctioning capital punishment for acts of terrorism, approved by the Knesset in its first reading the same day.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.film.jo\/NewsView.aspx?NewsID=137\"><u>Royal Jordanian Film Commission<\/u><\/a> is inviting Arab filmmakers to participate in the short-film competition <em>\u201cWe are Jerusalem\u201d<\/em>. The deadline for submission is 21 January.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>On 30 December, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.badil.org\/en\/publication\/press-releases\/86-2017\/4838-pr-en-301217-62.html\"><u>Badil<\/u><\/a> published its third report on issues related to corporate responsibility in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, focusing on <em>\u201cEU-Israel Trade: Promoting International Law Violations\u201d<\/em>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><u>North America<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>As part of its <em>\u201cA Cry for Home\u201d<\/em> advocacy campaign on Palestine and Israel, the <a href=\"https:\/\/mcccanada.ca\/learn\/where\/middle-east\/palestine-israel\/cry-for-home\"><u>Central Mennonite Committee<\/u><\/a> (MCC) Canada has issued fact sheets on international law, home demolitions, settlements, detention and <a href=\"https:\/\/mcccanada.ca\/sites\/mcccanada.ca\/files\/media\/common\/documents\/acfh-factsheet-refugee-final.pdf\"><u>refugees<\/u><\/a>.<u>\u00a0<\/u><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Under the theme <em>\u201cFacing the Nakba\u201d<\/em><u>, <\/u><a href=\"https:\/\/jewishvoiceforpeace.org\/facing-the-nakba\/\"><u>Jewish Voice for Peace<\/u><\/a> (JVP) has developed a multimedia curriculum to support workshops on the history of the Nakba and its present-day implications in the Israeli-Palestinian context.<u>\u00a0<\/u><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/tatreezandtea.com\/upcoming-events\/\"><u>Tatreez &amp; Tea<\/u><\/a> has announced its <em>\u201c2018 Traditional Palestinian Embroidery Arts Education Programme\u201d<\/em>.
