First and foremost, the United Nations University (Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵU) sides with peace. When peace fails, it is imperative that human rights are prioritized and protected. We echo the\u00a0statement by the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Secretary-General<\/a>: \u201cEven wars have rules. International humanitarian law and human rights law must be respected and upheld.\u201d<\/p>\n All sides of this conflict must do everything possible to ensure that civilians\u2019 access to food, water, fuel, safe shelter and health care is not compromised or blocked.<\/p>\n Sustainable development is impossible without peace.
