This is an increase of 10,000 people only in the past 24 hours.<\/li>\n<li>Since Saturday 21 October, three humanitarian convoys reached Gaza with a total of 54 trucks. Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµRWA teams receive those shipments on the Gaza side and help with the storage and distribution in cooperation with other Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ agencies.\u00a0 The convoys included some food, drinking water and medicines.<\/li>\n<li>These convoys did not include much-needed fuel. Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµRWA will run out of fuel within the next two days, putting at risk the delivery of humanitarian aid to people in need.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"gray-background\"><strong>The West Bank, including East Jerusalem\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>On 23 October, the Israeli Security Forces (ISF) conducted a search and arrest operation in Jalazone refugee camp, near Ramallah, carrying out widespread arrests and killing two Palestine Refugees.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"blue-background\"><strong>Overall Situation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"gray-background\"><strong>The Gaza Strip\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>According to the Ministry of Health in Gaza, 5,087 people have been killed since 7 October, including 2,055 children, 1,119 women, and 217 elderly. Another 15,273 have been injured. An additional 1,500 persons are reported missing, including 830 children.<\/li>\n<li>Overall, nearly 1,400 Israelis and foreign nationals have been killed in Israel, according to the Israeli authorities, the vast majority on 7 October (OCHA).<\/li>\n<li>Shelters are operating beyond their capacities and many new IDPs are sleeping in the streets as current facilities are overwhelmed.\u202fThe number of IDPs in Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµRWA shelters is four times more than what Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµRWA had originally planned for.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"gray-background\"><strong>The West Bank, including East Jerusalem\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>According to OCHA, 93 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank since 7 October.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"blue-background\"><strong>Humanitarian Access, Protection of Civilians<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"gray-background\"><strong>Gaza\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In total, 35 Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµRWA colleagues have been killed, while another 18 have been injured.<\/li>\n<li>At least 40 Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµRWA installations have been impacted since 7 October.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"gray-background\"><strong>The West Bank, including East Jerusalem\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Movements of Palestinians in the West Bank, including Palestine Refugees and Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµRWA staff, continue to be significantly limited, due to Israeli Authorities\u2019 restrictions.<\/li>\n<li>Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµRWA continues to provide services, supported by staff living in close proximity to the Agency\u2019s premises and installations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµRWA Response\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"gray-background\"><strong>Gaza\u202f\u202f\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµRWA Shelters\u202f\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>On average,\u00a0<strong>the shelters are about 2.7 times their designed capacity<\/strong>.\u202fThe most crowded shelter, at its most severe level of overcrowding, was hosting\u202f12 times more people than its designed capacity.<\/li>\n<li>Overcrowding conditions are severely constraining access to basic assistance and essential services while increasing health and protection risks, and negatively impacting on mental health.<\/li>\n<li>At the Rafah logistics base, 400 people are sharing one toilet.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµRWA is distributing family hygiene kits to pregnant women and baby kits for newborns in the shelters.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0Health\u202f\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Only one-third of Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµRWA clinics in the South and Middle Areas are operational. They are offering essential primary health-care services to refugees. These centres recorded\u00a0<strong>a total of 4,198 visits on 23 October,\u00a0<\/strong>for refugees and non-refugees.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Health-care services were maintained within the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµRWA shelters, with the support\u00a0<strong>of 92 mobile medical units and medical teams, serving nearly 9,900 cases at shelters.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>According to initial health assessments from the mobile medical teams, there are over 37,000 persons with non-communicable diseases (NCDs), over 4,600 pregnant women and around 380 post-natal cases requiring medical attention among the IDPs. In addition,\u00a0<strong>medical teams are increasingly identifying cases of acute respiratory and diarrhea among children under five years old.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµRWA\u2019s stocks of medicines are critically decreasing, with availability from five-15 days. Available insulin stocks will last for only one week.<\/li>\n<li>Fuel stocks in the functional Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµRWA primary health-care centres are about to run out.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Psychosocial Support\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµRWA has counsellors and social workers in the shelters, who provide psychological first aid and other specialized protection services. Since the beginning of the crisis, Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµRWA social workers provided 4,700 people with psychosocial support and social work services. These include cases that are referred for medication and other specialized mental health and psychosocial support interventions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Food Security\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To support displaced families and address bread shortages, Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµRWA continued to provide bakeries with flour.\u00a0<strong>This has allowed 30 bakeries to give bread to families at half the cost<\/strong>. This is in addition to the distribution of bread in Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµRWA shelters.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"rtl\" style=\"text-align: left\"><strong>Water and Sanitation Services (WASH)\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Some solid waste collection from the camps and from emergency shelters and transfer to landfills continues in Middle, Khan Younis and Rafah areas with difficulties due to the scarcity of fuel and staff.<\/li>\n<li>Water wells in Jabalia, Khan Younis and Rafah are functional with about 10,000 m<sup>3<\/sup>\u00a0being pumped from nine water wells.<\/li>\n<li>Despite the limited availability of fuel, desalination plants continue to operate in the shelters for the provision of potable water.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Water trucking operations to the shelters in Rafah and Khan Younis areas also continue. Given the high number of people hosted in the shelters, the water provided is barely enough to cover the needs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"gray-background\"><strong>The West Bank\u202f\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Education\u202f\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>On 23 October, due to the Israeli Security Forces\u2019 search and arrest operation in Jalazone refugee camp, and the volatile situation in the camp, the three Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµRWA schools in the camp serving over 1,700 school children, were closed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Health\u202f\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Most Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµRWA health clinics around the West Bank were open.<\/li>\n<li>Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµRWA protection team visited the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµRWA Health Centre in Jerusalem Old City and provided protection <a id=\"_ftnref1\" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.unrwa.org\/resources\/reports\/unrwa-situation-report-13-gaza-strip-and-west-bank-including-east-jerusalem#_ftn1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" name=\"_ftnref1\">[1]<\/a>\u00a0at the site. The health centre had been closed since 7 October and was reopened on 23 October.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>WASH\u202f\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Waste collection services continue in 19 refugee camps.<\/li>\n<li>On 23 October, Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµRWA managed to successfully transfer the waste from Arroub and Fawwar camp to the dumping site. Compactors\u2019 movements had been restricted in past days due to the closures and movement restrictions across the West Bank. Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµRWA Protection team facilitated and coordinated the movements by also providing protective presence<a id=\"_ftnref2\" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.unrwa.org\/resources\/reports\/unrwa-situation-report-13-gaza-strip-and-west-bank-including-east-jerusalem#_ftn2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" name=\"_ftnref2\">[2]<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Protection \/ Crisis Intervention Unit (CIU)\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµRWA conducted assessments across three refugee camps, including Nour Shams, Jenin, and Aqbat Jaber, that have experienced ISF operations.
