**Gaza<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n Turning to the situation in Gaza and more particularly at Al Shifa Hospital in Gaza city, I can tell you that we are planning a mission to the hospital as soon as we can get there to help people receive medical attention and to assess the state of the hospital.\u00a0 This comes as we saw the reports that the Israeli defence forces have vacated the premises of Al Shifa Hospital.<\/p>\n Yesterday, the Director-General of the World Health Organization, Dr.\u00a0Tedros, said that, according to information received, 21\u00a0patients had died since Al Shifa came under siege, this time on March 18th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, at Al Aqsa Hospital in central Gaza, a WHO team was conducting a humanitarian mission there yesterday when a tent camp inside the hospital compound was hit by an Israeli air strike.\u00a0 Four people were reportedly killed, and 17\u00a0others injured.\u00a0All WHO staff are accounted for.<\/p>\n The WHO team was at the hospital to assess needs and collect incubators, which are to be sent to health facilities in northern Gaza.<\/p>\n For its part, our colleagues at Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA said there has been no significant change in the volume of humanitarian supplies entering Gaza or improved access to the north.\u00a0 From 1\u00a0to 30\u00a0March, a daily average of 159\u00a0aid trucks have crossed into Gaza per day.\u00a0 The highest number this month was on 28\u00a0March, when 264\u00a0trucks entered Gaza via the Kerem Shalom\/Karem Abu Salem crossing and the Rafah land crossing.\u00a0 This remains well below the operational target of 500\u00a0trucks per day.<\/p>\n Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA also continues to provide storage and distribution capacity for other agencies\u2019 food and commodities.\u00a0 The Agency reported today that more than 1.8\u00a0million people \u2014 which is 85\u00a0per cent of Gaza\u2019s population \u2014 have received flour, and nearly 600,000\u00a0have received emergency food parcels.<\/p>\n …<\/p>\n Question<\/u><\/strong>:\u00a0 St\u00e9phane Dujarric.\u00a0 Yes, that\u2019s the pronunciation I was told.\u00a0 The story in\u00a0The Guardian<\/em>\u00a0yesterday that Israel lodged an official proposal with the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ for the dismantling of Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA and that the Secretary-General has been notified by Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ officials in Israel who\u2019ve received this from the Israeli Chief of General Staff.\u00a0 We have talked about this weeks ago.\u00a0 This was sort of floating around.\u00a0 Can you confirm these elements of the story?<\/p>\n Spokesman<\/u><\/strong>:\u00a0 No.\u00a0 I\u2019ve spent quite a lot of time this morning on the phone with various colleagues in the region.\u00a0 Nobody seems to have seen such a document or where that such a document has been shared.\u00a0No such document was received by the Secretary-General\u2019s office as of this morning.\u00a0 That being said, our position on Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA remains unchanged.\u00a0 That Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA is the lifeline of hope of services for millions of Palestinians in the region, including in Gaza.\u00a0 And currently it\u2019s the backbone, the spine, the arms and the legs of our humanitarian operation there.\u00a0 Georgia?<\/p>\n …<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
