The ongoing war in Gaza began in October 2023, with women bearing much of the health burden. More than 41,000 people have been killed, and thousands of women face life-threatening health risks. Medical services are crippled, and with more than 84 per cent of health facilities damaged, basic healthcare is inaccessible, especially for women dealing with non-communicable diseases, maternal health issues, and mental health struggles.<\/p>\n

This gender alert provides a comprehensive analysis of the health crisis women face during this conflict. It draws on interviews and surveys conducted across Gaza to highlight the intersection of gender, health, and conflict. The report is part of Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Women\u2019s ongoing efforts to document the gendered impacts of war and support advocacy for women\u2019s health and rights.<\/p>\n

The publication not only presents stark statistics, but also tells the stories of women struggling to access care for themselves and their families. It identifies urgent needs, such as treatment for cancer patients, maternal health services, and mental health support. Through its findings, the report calls for immediate interventions, including safe humanitarian access, protection for health workers, and gender-sensitive responses to meet the unique needs of women and girls in Gaza.<\/p>\n
