Tear gas and sound bombs were fired.<\/p>\n<p>Also, this morning, Israeli police officers, accompanied by staff from the Jerusalem Municipality went to Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA schools ordering their closure.<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s incidents have impacted 250 children in three Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA schools in East Jerusalem, +350 trainees in the Kalandia Training Centre, a large United Nations compound.<\/p>\n<p>This is a violation of the basic right to education as well as of United Nations privileges and\u00a0immunities.<\/p>\n<p>Children\u2019s access to education must be preserved and\u00a0United Nations facilities must be protected and respected at all times wherever they are.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; 18 February 2025 From Philippe Lazzarini, the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA Commissioner-General as posted on his official X account (previously known as Twitter) Children and\u00a0young people in East Jerusalem denied of their right to education in\u00a0Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA\u00a0schools.
