A deeply troubling new report from our colleagues at Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR):<\/span><\/p>\n

– It lays bare the destruction of neighbourhoods in Gaza and the expulsion of communities, tantamount to ethnic cleansing.
\n– \u2060It spotlights other horrors \u2014 the continued killing and maiming, the blockade that pushed Gaza into famine, and torture.
\n– \u2060It exposes violence and displacement in the West Bank.
\n– \u2060It highlights the climate of impunity for violations by the Israeli authorities in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.<\/p>\n

This must be de-normalised.<\/p>\n

Wars have rules. International law matters.<\/p>\n

I echo the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk’s words: \u201cImpunity is not abstract \u2013 it kills. Accountability is indispensable. It is the prerequisite for a just & durable peace in Palestine and Israel.\u201d<\/p>\n
