Following missile attacks towards Israel\u00a0since\u00a0last night,\u00a0the\u00a0Israeli authorities\u00a0closed\u00a0Kerem Shalom\u00a0crossing\u00a0today\u00a0\u2013\u00a0the only crossing\u00a0into\u00a0Gaza\u00a0that had been operational\u00a0for cargo\u00a0over the past two weeks.<\/p>\n
However, humanitarians\u00a0were allowed to\u00a0collect cargo from the Palestinian side of the crossing. Israeli authorities also\u00a0closed\u00a0Rafah\u00a0Crossing.<\/p>\n
OCHA\u202fstresses\u202fthat\u202fpeople\u202fin\u00a0the\u00a0Gaza\u00a0Strip\u202frely\u202fon a steady flow of\u202fhumanitarian and commercial\u202fgoods\u202ffrom outside.<\/p>\n
The Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ and its\u202fhumanitarian partners\u202fwork\u202fhard\u202fto\u202fmaintain\u202fa\u202fsustained\u202fand predictable flow of supplies\u202fdespite\u202frestrictions. Such efforts cannot be sustained if crossings remain closed.<\/p>\n
Against this backdrop,\u00a0civilians and civilian infrastructure continue to be exposed to\u00a0Israeli\u00a0airstrikes,\u00a0shelling\u00a0and\u00a0gunfire, resulting in reported casualties and damage.<\/p>\n
Under international humanitarian law, civilians and civilian infrastructure must be protected.<\/p>\n
In the West Bank, OCHA warns of risks from debris from the interception of missiles, as seen during previous regional escalations.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, violence affecting Palestinians across the West Bank persists. Last Friday, Israeli forces shot and killed a seven\u2011month\u2011old Palestinian baby in Hebron city and injured both parents when their vehicle came under fire as it approached an Israeli patrol. Israeli authorities have indicated the incident will be investigated.<\/p>\n
In Nablus, Israeli forces raided Balata refugee camp yesterday, arresting one Palestinian. Clashes with residents during the operation resulted in injuries and tear gas exposure.<\/p>\n
Raids, search-and-arrest\u00a0operations\u00a0and other operations by Israeli forces have become a\u00a0regular occurrence,\u00a0with more than 20 raids or other operations on average each day\u00a0across the West Bank\u00a0during the five first months of 2026. This has resulted in casualties and damage to civilian infrastructure.<\/p>\n
