OCHA reports that shelling, gunfire,\u202fbombing\u202fand airstrikes continue to impact civilians\u00a0across the\u00a0Gaza Strip.<\/p>\n
Today, in\u00a0a\u00a0social media post<\/a>, Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵICEF\u00a0said\u00a0that a\u00a017-year-old\u00a0girl\u00a0was killed on her way to sit for her high school exam. She was one of Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵICEF\u2019s\u00a0Youth Champions.<\/p>\n The Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ reiterates that\u00a0civilians,\u00a0including children,\u00a0must always be protected.<\/p>\n Meanwhile,\u00a0partners leading on\u00a0the management of\u00a0displacement sites yesterday\u00a0released<\/a>\u00a0the findings\u00a0of\u00a0an assessment covering\u00a0nearly\u00a01,600\u00a0displacement sites\u00a0hosting\u00a0about\u00a01.7 million\u00a0people, which is roughly 80 per cent\u00a0of\u00a0Gaza\u2019s\u00a0population.<\/p>\n The findings confirm that\u00a0displaced people\u00a0remain\u00a0in\u00a0extremely poor\u00a0conditions,\u00a0with limited access to\u00a0essential\u00a0humanitarian supplies,\u00a0inadequate lighting and energy,\u00a0weakened\u00a0health services,\u00a0disrupted water\u00a0supply\u00a0and exposure\u00a0to\u00a0insecurity.<\/p>\n At least\u00a059,000 individual\u00a0shelters\u00a0accommodate\u00a0more\u00a0than eight\u00a0people,\u00a0while about\u00a038,500 people\u00a0are\u00a0estimated\u00a0to be\u00a0sleeping in the open.\u00a0An estimated\u00a0600,000\u00a0people\u00a0in\u00a0the\u00a0assessed\u00a0sites\u00a0lack sufficient\u00a0access\u00a0to\u00a0drinking water.\u00a0And half of the sites\u00a0lack\u00a0visible\u00a0drainage,\u00a0and\u00a0nearly half\u00a0reported\u00a0fire hazards near shelters.<\/p>\n Rodent\u00a0infestations are\u00a0reported in\u00a080 per cent of the\u00a0sites,\u00a0and\u00a0open\u00a0sewage\u00a0as well as\u00a0accumulated\u00a0waste are\u00a0in\u00a0more than half\u00a0of them.<\/p>\n In\u00a0almost 250\u00a0sites\u00a0\u2013\u00a0hosting\u00a0nearly\u00a0250,000\u00a0people\u00a0\u2013\u00a0there were reported incidents\u00a0with explosive ordnance.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" 23 June 2026 OCHA reports that shelling, gunfire,\u202fbombing\u202fand airstrikes continue to impact civilians\u00a0across the\u00a0Gaza Strip.
