OCHA says air strikes and other attacks on civilian areas in\u00a0Gaza\u00a0intensified yesterday, with reports of casualties, including among civilians, as well as damage.<\/p>\n

Four of yesterday\u2019s air strikes hit close to humanitarian facilities: in Ash Shati\u2019 Camp, Al Bureij, and two locations in Deir al Balah. Initial assessments indicate that Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ facilities were not damaged, but windows at a guesthouse used by one of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ\u2019s humanitarian partners were shattered.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, an air strike damaged three Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ warehouses. Supplies stored inside remained intact.<\/p>\n

Civilians and civilian objects, including humanitarian facilities, must always be protected.<\/p>\n

In the West Bank, Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA reported today that Israeli forces forcibly entered the Kalandia Training Centre in East Jerusalem while about 20 staff members were on site.<\/p>\n

Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Special Coordinator ad interim, Dr. Ramiz Alakbarov, strongly\u00a0condemned<\/a>\u00a0the unauthorized entry and unlawful seizure, stressing that these are inviolable Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ premises that are immune from any form of interference.<\/p>\n

Dr. Alakbarov \u2013 who is also the Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for the Occupied Palestinian Territory \u2013 said that these actions impact in particular 340 Palestine Refugee youth from the West Bank.<\/p>\n

He urged the Government of Israel to immediately cease all actions affecting Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ property, to withdraw from the facility, and to restore its full inviolability without delay. He also called on the Israeli authorities to refrain from taking any further action affecting Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ property and assets, in line with its obligations under the Charter of the United Nations and its other obligations under international law.<\/p>\n

This is Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA\u2019s oldest vocational training centre. It has served Palestine Refugees for more than seven decades. Each year, it provides hundreds of students from across the West Bank with free vocational education and a pathway towards greater economic independence.<\/p>\n

According to humanitarian partners, witnesses say that a fire that damaged a factory in the Ramallah area was started by Israeli settlers who had set fire to an aluminum factory in the Palestinian village of Ein Siniya. The fire caused extensive damage to stored materials and the structure itself, and to nearby farmland.<\/p>\n

The Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ and its partners are mobilizing humanitarian support for those affected by the incident.<\/p>\n

Humanitarian partners report this year, an average of over 200 attacks every month by settlers causing casualties or damage have been recorded \u2013 the highest monthly average in any year. By the end of July, more than 1,400 such attacks had been recorded.<\/p>\n

In the wake of such attacks, humanitarian partners assess people\u2019s needs and respond accordingly, including supporting those forced to leave their communities and those whose access to essential services and livelihoods is disrupted.<\/p>\n

Civilians must be protected and perpetrators must be held to account.<\/p>\n
