    <\/a>I. Israel\u2019s unauthorized entry into Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA Kalandia Training Centre<\/strong><\/h2>\n

    On 25 August, the United Nations (Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ) Secretary-General condemned<\/a> the\u00a0\u201cactions by the Israeli authorities, including security forces, to unlawfully enter and remain on the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East\u00a0(Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA) Kalandia Training Centre in occupied East Jerusalem and carry out unauthorized works in those premises\u201d. He reiterated that Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA premises are \u201cinviolable and immune from any form of interference\u201d and recalled the International Court of Justice\u2019s advisory opinion of 22\u00a0October\u00a02025<\/a> regarding Israel\u2019s international obligations in this regard. Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA also condemned these actions and called<\/a> on \u201cthe international community to act immediately and decisively to safeguard the inviolability of the Kalandia Training Centre and all other United Nations facilities in occupied East Jerusalem\u201d.<\/p>\n

      <\/a>II. West Bank at a breaking point, fragile ceasefire in Gaza and harm to Palestinian children, the Security Council is briefed<\/strong><\/h2>\n

      On 11 August, briefing the Security Council, the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process ad interim stressed that \u201cthe West Bank is at a breaking point\u201d and denounced<\/a> what he called a clear pattern: \u201cPalestinian populations are increasingly being forcibly displaced from villages across the West Bank before settlers seize the vacated land\u201d. He stated that \u201cas of 10 August, 76 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank in 2026, including 18 children, by Israeli forces or settlers\u201d and \u201cabout 3,800 Palestinians, nearly half of them children, have been displaced due to settler violence, demolitions and evictions\u201d. Also briefing the Security Council, the United Nations Children\u2019s Fund (Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵICEF) Deputy Executive Director drew attention<\/a> to the situation of children, reporting that \u201cbetween January 2024 and the end of July this year, 174 Palestinian children were verified killed by the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem\u201d. She stressed that Member States have the responsibility \u201cto create the political conditions that children need to be safe\u201d.<\/p>\n

      At the Security Council meeting on 26 August, the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Special Coordinator warned<\/a> that in Gaza the ceasefire remained fragile and Israeli strikes on Gaza continued. He urged all parties to advance the Roadmap, and \u201clay the groundwork for the broader objective \u2013 the establishment of a political horizon that will end the unlawful occupation, realize Palestinian self-determination, and advance a two-State solution\u201d. He reiterated that \u201cGaza\u2019s recovery and reconstruction and the broader political process are mutually dependent and neither can be sustained in isolation\u201d.<\/p>\n

        <\/a>III. Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Human Rights Office in OPT: pattern of indiscriminate and disproportionate attacks in Gaza; condemnation of settlers\u2019 violence and land grabbing<\/strong><\/h2>\n

        On 13 August, Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT) called<\/a> on Israeli authorities to \u201cimmediately remove settlers who are violently displacing thousands of Palestinians, unlawfully grabbing Palestinian land and expanding settlements\u201d, denouncing in particular the violence by Israeli settlers of an illegal outpost near Qusra, a Palestinian town located in Nablus Governorate in Area B of the occupied West Bank. On 21 August, the OHCHR in the OPT stated that on 18 and 19 August \u201cat least 17 Palestinians, including children and women, were reportedly killed in Israeli attacks across Gaza\u201d. OHCHR stressed that the \u201cconcentration of casualties in these attacks, in densely populated civilian areas\u2026is part of a wider pattern of indiscriminate and disproportionate<\/a> Israeli attacks against Palestinians documented by Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Human Rights since October 2023\u201d.<\/p>\n

          <\/a><\/a><\/a>IV. Gaza: at least 300 children killed since ceasefire; healthcare system crisis<\/strong><\/h2>\n

          On 6 August, Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵICEF reported<\/a> that \u201cat least 300 children have been reportedly killed in Gaza in the 300 days since a ceasefire was announced in October 2025\u201d, while across Gaza children continue to face acute malnutrition, disease, unsafe water and damaged sanitation systems. \u00a0On 24 August, Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵICEF also released the results of a population-based nutrition survey<\/a> conducted in the accessible areas of Gaza, indicating \u201crelatively low acute malnutrition among children in the accessible population, concerning rates of chronic malnutrition (stunting), maternal malnutrition, very poor dietary quality, suboptimal infant and young child feeding practices, and a substantial burden of childhood illness\u201d.<\/p>\n

          On 13 August, Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA released a report on the healthcare system<\/a> in Gaza, indicating that since 7 October 2023, the system has experienced \u201csystemic collapse, severely undermining its capacity to meet the basic health needs of the civilian population\u201d and that Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA\u2019s health services have also been repeatedly affected by hostilities and operational constraints. The report concludes that addressing this crisis requires \u201csustained action based on long-term recovery\u201d, including rebuilding healthcare infrastructure, restoring the broader public health environment, and ensuring sustained humanitarian access.<\/p>\n
