They did so by setting up 170 reinforced tents at those sites.

However, OCHA says that many more tents are needed, along with shelter kits, heaters and sustained fuel imports. Thousands of heating points will be required to meet people’s needs.

Other ongoing efforts involve replacing worn-out shelters, unblocking drainage, and identifying voluntary relocation options for those in flood-prone areas.

Because of funding shortfalls, the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ and its partners estimate that the tents, tarpaulins and sealing-off kits they have – or are in the process of buying – will only support 50,000 households. This is in addition to what Member States and the private sector can bring in. In the combined pipeline of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ and its partners, there are also bedding items for another 50,000 households, while winter clothes are currently for some 9,000 households only. More funding is urgently needed.

Israeli authorities need to approve critical items quickly. These include engine oil, spare parts and other supplies needed to keep generators and vehicles running. The entire humanitarian operation depends on them.

West Bank: humanitarians support Palestinians affected by home demolitions in Jinba

Humanitarian partners estimate that in the West Bank, every fifth Palestinian in Masafer Yatta area of Hebron – where Israeli authorities have declared a “firing zone” – may have been displaced or otherwise affected by demolitions in the past four weeks alone.

Over the weekend, humanitarian partners supported Palestinians affected by last Thursday’s demolition of 35 homes and other structures in the Jinba community. They provided people with emergency tents, water and other supplies, including items for women and children.

Soon after the demolition, OCHA and partners visited the area and confirmed that eight families – 55 people, including 32 children – had been displaced. Another 80 people were able to remain in their homes but lost access to livelihoods or services after the destruction of animal shelters, latrines, storage units, solar panels and one taboon oven.

This was the fourth demolition in the Israeli-declared “firing zone” of Masafer Yatta this month. Combined, the four demolitions have displaced or otherwise affected over 270 people this month alone.

About 1,200 Palestinians live across 13 communities in Masafer Yatta. All of them are under pressure to leave. Humanitarian partners say that this pressure has been compounded by a rise in settler violence against these communities, following the establishment of settlement outposts in the area in recent years.

28 September 2026 OCHA warns that funding shortfalls and Israeli restrictions are severely limiting preparations for the rainy season.
