9 April, Panama<\/p><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-1\"><p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The visit took place as part of the Committee outreach to Latin America to promote the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people and recognition of the State of Palestine by all countries of the region. The visit also served to share information about the Committee\u2019s mandate and its programme of work both at the United Nations headquarters in New York and abroad and to inform the public about the conditions of life for the Palestinian people under fifty years of Israeli occupation.<\/p>\n<p>The Delegation was led by the Chair of the Committee, Ambassador Fod\u00e9 Seck (Permanent Representative of Senegal) and included Ambassador Mar\u00eda Rubiales de Chamorro (Permanent Representative of Nicaragua, Vice-Chair); Ambassador Anayansi Rodr\u00edguez Camejo (Permanent Representative of Cuba, Vice-Chair); Ambassador Muhammad Shahrul Yaakob (Permanent Representative of Malaysia, Member), and Ambassador Riyad Mansour (Permanent Observer of the State of Palestine).<\/p>\n<p>The Committee Delegation met with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Luis Miguel Hincapi\u00e9 and with the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly.<\/p>\n<p>Other activities included a briefing to postulants to the Diplomatic Academy and a conference at the Department of Political Science and Public Administration of the University of Panama. The delegation also met with representatives of local Palestinian solidarity groups and diaspora representatives.
