As is customary each year, the United Nations observes the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People – 29 November. This year, the observance of the Day at Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Headquarters will take place on Monday, 23 November.<\/p>\n
The Day is traditionally also observed at the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Offices at Vienna and Geneva, which will be held this year on 24 and 30 November respectively.<\/p>\n
At Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Headquarters, a Special Meeting by the\u00a0Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People<\/u><\/a>\u00a0will be held from 10.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. in the Trusteeship Council Chamber. The Special Meeting is open to the media and the public, and this year\u2019s speakers include the President of the General Assembly, the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, the Chairman of the Committee, the President of the Security Council and the Permanent Observer of the State of Palestine. In addition, a number of representatives from intergovernmental organizations and a speaker on behalf of civil society will take the floor. The meeting will be webcast live at\u00a0http:\/\/webtv.un.org<\/u><\/a>.<\/p>\n In the afternoon from 3.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m., the General Assembly will consider the agenda item entitled \u201cQuestion of Palestine\u201d, including four resolutions on the mandates of the Committee, the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Division for Palestinian Rights, a special DPI information programme and one on the peaceful settlement of the conflict.<\/p>\n At 6.00 p.m., a photo exhibit entitled \u201cPalestinian Children: Overcoming Tragedies with Hope, Dreams, Resilience and Dignity<\/strong>\u201d featuring photographs of Palestinian children in Gaza, will be opened by the Committee and the Permanent Observer Mission of the State of Palestine. This will take place at the\u00a0Public Lobby (curved wall area) of the GA Building<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Also, Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵICs around the world will promote the Day by organizing events such as panel discussions and film screenings and distributing the Secretary-General\u2019s message translated into local languages.<\/p>\n
