Tuesday, <\/span><\/b>21<\/span><\/b> April<\/span><\/b> 2020<\/span><\/b>, 10 <\/span><\/b>– 11.30<\/span><\/b> a.m.<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span>Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ <\/span>Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People<\/span> will hold a virtual conversation on \u201c<\/span>The COVID-19 pandemic under occupation \u2013 national resilience and international support<\/span><\/b>\u201d. The event will<\/span> take place<\/span> on<\/span> 21<\/span> April 2020 from 10.00 a.m. to 11.<\/span>3<\/span>0 a.m. (N<\/span>ew <\/span>Y<\/span>ork<\/span> Time) and livestreamed on the Committee Facebook page<\/span>: <\/span>https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ.palestinianrights\/<\/span><\/a>. <\/span>V<\/span>i<\/span>ewers<\/span> can pose questions via the Committee Facebook page and the email <\/span>dpr-meeting@un.org<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The event will <\/span>consist of <\/span>a conversation between the Committee Bureau<\/span> and <\/span>3 Palestinian civil society<\/span> representatives<\/span>:<\/span> Mr. Ali <\/strong><\/span>Ghaith<\/strong>, a Palestinian journalist and activist <\/span>in <\/span>East Jerusalem; Ms. <\/span>Randa<\/strong> Siniora<\/strong>, Palestinian human rights and women’s rights activist and General Director of the Women\u2019s Center for Legal Aid and Counselling<\/span> in Ramallah<\/span>; and Mr. <\/span>Issam<\/strong> Younis<\/strong>, the Director<\/span>–<\/span>General of the Al <\/span>Mezan<\/span> Center for Human Rights in Gaza.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The 1.5-hour <\/span>event<\/span> will address <\/span>how the Palestinian population in the West Bank <\/span>– including East Jerusalem<\/span> – <\/span>and Gaza <\/span>is <\/span>coping with<\/span> the COVID-19 pandemic under the ongoing occupation, <\/span>political uncertainty in Israel and threats<\/span> of annexation<\/span>. The speakers will elaborate on their distinct <\/span>sets of <\/span>challenges and restrictions in their respective locations, and on <\/span>whether<\/span> Israel, the <\/span>occupying<\/span> Power, is <\/span>living up to its<\/span> responsibilities under<\/span> international law <\/span>vis-\u00e0-vis the occupied Palestinian population<\/span>.<\/span> The <\/span>e<\/span>vent will also address <\/span>options and strategies for Member States and global civil society to provide continued political and practical support to the Palestinian people.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

All Member States and Observers, United Nations organizations, intergovernmental and civil society organizations have been invited to attend.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
