\u00a0<\/em>Conference Room 6, Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Headquarters<\/strong><\/p>\n 10 a.m. \u2013 1 p.m., Wednesday, 18 March 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n The situation in Gaza and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, over the last two years, encapsulates a complex history of prolonged occupation, where Palestinian women have emerged as pillars of strength and resilience. They face the dire consequences of displacement and the systematic destruction of their homes and communities. Confronted with severe restrictions that impede their movement, access to essential services, and economic empowerment, these women nevertheless anchor the sustenance of their families and communities.<\/p>\n In this year\u2019s session of CSW, the case of Palestinian women is unique as ways to access justice are intrinsically linked to\u00a0the\u00a0ending of Israel\u2019s illegal occupation and obtaining accountability for Israeli crimes in the West Bank and Gaza under international human rights law.\u00a0Access to justice for Palestinian women would entail\u00a0the implementation by\u00a0third states\u00a0of\u00a0\u00a0measures to end Israel\u2019s prolonged military occupation and Israel\u2019s respect\u00a0for\u00a0its legal obligations as an occupying power\u00a0under international human rights and humanitarian law and to end human rights abuses against women and girls in the OPT. Israel\u2019s\u00a0discriminatory policies and practices\u00a0leading to property destruction, demolition, settler violence, forcible transfer of Palestinians\u00a0as a form of collective punishment\u00a0and\u00a0residency revocation\u00a0have\u00a0continued to impact Palestinian women\u00a0disproportionately, with profound\u00a0economic, social and psychological impact\u00a0on them and their families.\u00a0\u00a0In its several resolutions on Palestine, the General\u00a0Assembly\u00a0underscored the necessity of ensuring\u00a0accountability\u00a0for all violations of international humanitarian law and international human rights law to prevent impunity, ensure justice, deter future violations,\u00a0and\u00a0protect civilians\u00a0including women and girls.<\/p>\n The panel will\u00a0aim to highlight the binding obligations of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ and the international community in protecting Palestinian women during Israel\u2019s military assault on Gaza and in ensuring Israel\u2019s accountability for these internationally documented crimes\u00a0based on\u00a0international\u00a0law.
