Meet the Moderator Dr. Soon-Young Yoon is an activist/anthropologist. She is currently a research associate of the Graduate Center, Department of Anthropology at the City University of New York and a columnist for the Earth Times newspaper. In 1995, she was one of the organizers of the NGO Forum on Women at the Beijing women's conference. She has worked for various Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ agencies such as Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµICEF and the World Health Organization as regional advisor on social science and health issues. Her academic work includes research and teaching as a Fulbright scholar at Ewha Woman's university in Korea where she helped to establish a women's studies program. A Korean-American, she considers herself a "third generation" feminist. She says, "the first feminist was my grandfather who believed in equal inheritance and education for his daughters." |
