Gisella is an investigative journalist from Ecuador. Her work focuses on organized crime, corruption, and human rights. Since 2024, she serves as the Digital Editor for Vistazo Magazine. Gisella is a Journalism AI Academy Fellow at Polis and the Google News Initiative. A finalist for the Jorge Mantilla National Journalism Award and an ICFJ Fellow, her piece “A Caravan of Legal Human Beings” won a global Thomson Foundation Mobile Journalism award. She is part of the Latin American Network of Young Journalists and received an honorable mention in the Journalists for Your Rights contest of the European Union and Fundamedios. She holds a BA in Journalism with a minor in Political Science from Universidad Casa Grande and has an MA from the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos.
