Technical Working Groups
Each of the five Themes was supported by a multi-stakeholder Technical Working Group. These Groups were an opportunity for technical experts to engage in the substantive preparations for the High-level Dialogue by advancing substantive discussions on the Themes. Each of the Groups produced a Thematic Report containing substantive recommendations on issues related to their Theme which contributed towards an action oriented SDG7 roadmap to 2030 in support of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Paris Agreement on Climate Change.
Each Technical Working Group ¨C with co-leads drawn from Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ and international agencies and programmes -- tackled one of the five thematic areas decided for the Dialogue as follows:
- Working Group on Energy Access, with the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Development Programme (Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵDP), the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Office for Least Developed, Landlocked and Small Island Developing States (Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ OHRLLS) and the World Bank as co-leads;
- Working Group on Energy Transition, with the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ ESCAP) and the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Environment Programme (Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵEP) as co-leads;
- Working Group on Enabling SDGs through Inclusive, Just Energy Transitions, with the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Department of Economic and Social Affairs (Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ DESA), the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ ESCWA), and the World Health Organization (WHO) as co-leads;
- Working Group on Innovation, Technology and Data, with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ (FAO); the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Human Settlements Programme (Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ-Habitat) and the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Industrial Development Organization (Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵIDO) as co-leads;
- Working Group on Finance and Investment, with the European Investment Bank (EIB), International Energy Agency (IEA), International Finance Corporation (IFC), and the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Economic Commission for Africa (Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ ECA) as co-leads.
In addition, efforts to catalyze Energy Compacts are supported as follows:
- Energy Compacts mobilization, with Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) together with Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ-Energy members as co-leads.
