The Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Postal Administration (Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵPA) celebrates the new Chinese Lunar Calendar with the issuance of a special event sheet for the ¡°Year of the Rabbit¡±.
The new lunar year officially begins on 22 January 2023 and ends on 9 February 2024.
For this new cycle, Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵPA is issuing ten $1.40 denominated stamps featuring an illustration of a white rabbit with a gold background and decorative border. The tabs to the left of each stamp have the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ emblem?design.
The Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵPA will also offer a Year of the Rabbit postcard with the same design as the stamps.
The stamps and the background design of the sheet were illustrated by Tiger Pan (China).
Mr. Pan also illustrated the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Chinese Lunar Calendar series in 2018 for the ¡°Year of the Dog¡± and in?2022?for the ¡°Year of the Tiger¡±.
The rabbit is the fourth animal sign in the Chinese zodiac cycle, following the tiger and preceding the dragon. According to Chinese culture, the rabbit is a symbol of longevity, peace, and prosperity.
People born in the Year of the Rabbit are believed to be vigilant, witty, quick-minded, and ingenious.
The stamp sheets may be personalized with a photograph to replace the United Nations logo. Customers can visit the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵPA stamp shops in New York, Geneva or Vienna to have their photos taken in person or they can upload their photos directly to the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵPA website here with ordering instructions: .
