Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Postal Administration has issued twelve new stamps in its endangered species stamp series on 26 April.

The 2024 United Nations Endangered Species stamp series includes a diverse array of fauna and flora. Many of the showcased species are at the centre of the latest discussions and decisions adopted by on sustainable wildlife conservation, management, and trade. ?

CITES works to uphold and maintain the survival in the wild of species listed in its appendices. The core objective of the convention is to ensure that international trade in wild animals and plants is legal, sustainable, and traceable.

For 30 years, Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵPA has issued stamps in support of CITES to celebrate the many beautiful and varied forms of wild fauna and flora and to raise awareness of the multitude of benefits that conservation provides to people.

The stamps feature the following:

New York ¨C $1.55

  • Rhynchobatus djiddensis (giant guitarfish)

  • Orchis anatolica (Anatolian orchid)

  • Neofelis nebulosa (clouded leopard)?

  • Pycnonotus zeylanicus (straw-headed bulbul)

Geneva ¨C CHF 1,90

  • Potamotrygon albimaculata (Itaituba river stingray)

  • Aquilaria malaccensis (aloewood)?

  • Vicugna vicugna (vicu?a)

  • Isurus oxyrinchus (shortfin mako shark)

Vienna ¨C €1,50

  • Sphyrna lewini (scalloped hammerhead shark)

  • Ophrys cilicica (Cilician bee orchid)?

  • Lama guanicoe (guanaco)?

  • Copsychus malabaricus (white-rumped shama)?

The stamps were illustrated by artist Julia Izabela (Brazil), whose biggest source of inspiration is nature and its diversity of shapes and colours.

In addition to the stamps, three postcards, a limited-edition silk cover and a beautifully designed endangered species folder that details more information about these species will be issued.
