21 April 2025 - Too many Indigenous Peoples are still being excluded from decisions that directly affect their lands, territories, cultures, and the future of their communities, a top Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ forum heard on Monday.

Indigenous Peoples are still excluded from decisions regarding ¡°the very foundation of our identity, survival, and self-determination,¡± said , Chair of the 24th United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues ().

This year¡¯s theme is focused on implementing the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples and addressing associated challenges ¨C emphasising the need for Indigenous Peoples to be included in governance processes.

For the next two weeks at Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Headquarters in New York, Indigenous leaders, Member States, Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ officials and civil society groups are meeting to try and make the declaration a reality.
