25 July 2025 - Maryam Bukar Hassan has been officially designated as a United Nations Global Advocate for Peace. A celebrated spoken word artist and activist, Bukar uses poetry and performance to promote gender equality, youth empowerment and inclusive peacebuilding. She has previously collaborated with the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ on initiatives such as the ¡°Peace Begins With Me¡± campaign and performed at major global platforms including the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ SDG Awards and the Summit of the Future.
As the first Global Advocate for the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ¡¯s Peace and Security Pillar, Bukar will amplify key priorities including women¡¯s rights, youth empowerment, and peacebuilding agendas through storytelling, digital engagement and public events. Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ leaders welcomed her appointment, highlighting the power of art to inspire dialogue and action.
