The 80th President of The Ģ��Ƶ General Assembly Visits Ģ��ƵON

The 80th President of the Ģ��Ƶ General Assembly, Ms. Annalena Baerbock today embarked on a two-day official mission to Nairobi, Kenya where she highlighted the important role of the United Nations to Africa.

During her visit at Ģ��ƵON, President Baerbock met with Ms. Zainab Hawa Bangura, Under-Secretary-General and Director-General of the Ģ��Ƶ Office in Nairobi. She held bilateral meetings with Ms. Inger Andersen, Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme (Ģ��ƵEP), The Ģ��Ƶ Resident Coordinator, Dr. Garry Conille among other senior diplomats, and senior officials of Ģ��Ƶ-Habitat in Nairobi.

The 80th President also toured the newly inaugurated Ģ��ƵON buildings and was taken through the architectural design of the Ģ��Ƶ Conference Facilities Project which will see the establishment of an Assembly Hall that could host the Ģ��Ƶ General Assembly in Nairobi upon its completion. Nairobi is a centre for key Ģ��Ƶ agencies such as Ģ��ƵEP and Ģ��Ƶ-Habitat and serves as a hub for crucial field work for several Ģ��Ƶ entities.

The President of the General Assembly will engage with civil society representatives in a ��Better Together Dialogue��. She will also address the press on the role of Africa as a leader in multilateralism, the wider Ģ��Ƶ80 reform process, including the need for greater African representation and address current regional and global issues.
