Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Documentary Heritage Preservation and Access
The Dag Hammarskj?ld Library is custodian of the documentary record of the General Assembly, Security Council, Economic and Social Council and Trusteeship Council, the authenticated evidence of eighty years of multilateral deliberation, in six official languages.
Much of record was created on paper. Since 1998, under General Assembly resolution 52/214, the Library has been converting the pre-1993 record to digital form. Up to now, more than 8 million pages and 3,000 maps have become freely available through the United Nations Digital Library.
Some 12 million pages at risk remain in print. Completing the work is a standing priority, pursued with Member States, donors and institutions.

Milestones
In 1998, the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Library launched digitalization initiatives in response to GA resolution 52/214.
By 2010, over 2 million pages of Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ parliamentary documents were digitized and made publicly accessible.
Between 2005 and 2020, over 6.1 million pages of Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ parliamentary documents were digitized in collaboration with the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Library in Geneva.
Launched the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ's first large-scale digitization project in 2014, digitizing over 1.3 million pages (80,000+ documents) by October 2018.
Completed the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ¡¯s first map digitization project in June 2019, digitizing 3,000 Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ-authored maps.
Over 7.1 million pages of Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ parliamentary documents have been digitized and made publicly accessible by 2020.
As of Jan 2025, over 7.9 million pages of Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ parliamentary documents have been digitized and made publicly accessible.
