The President of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ General Assembly Mogens Lykketoft met with Sergio Mattarella, President of Italy today (10 February).
They discussed how to address the humanitarian crisis related to refugees. Mr Lykketoft urged that more needs to be done in order to ease the crisis, including to increase financing. The Italian President stressed the important role that the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ can play in coordinating member states to respond in a structured way and expressed Italy’s support for respective Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ processes. They also talked about the importance of a thorough and ambitious implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals in order to prevent future crises and improve living conditions for people everywhere.
