Mr. Mogens Lykketoft, the President of the General Assembly, today had bilateral talks with Vice-President of the EU Commission and Commissoner for  & EU budget and human resources, Ms. Kristalina Georgieva.
Ms. Georgieva aired her concern about the power and motives of terrorist organizations and the humanitarian impact it has on regions in Africa and the Middle East. Mr. Lykketoft and Ms. Georgieva exchanged views on how to tackle the current refugee crisis, and discussed the importance of the the Humanitarian Summit that will take place in Istanbul later this year.
During the meeting in the Brussels’ Berlaymont building, the GA President and Ms. Georgieva also briefly talked about the upcoming election of the next Secretary-General.
