The President of the 72nd session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Miroslav Laj?ák, met today with Mr. Peter Maurer, President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). They discussed mobile populations including the two global compacts for refugees and migrants and how best to protect and assist all vulnerable populations.
They both noted that they shared common priorities particularly around the focus of protecting and assisting people and looked forward to future collaboration. The President of the General Assembly invited Mr. Maurer to speak at the high-level event on sustaining peace in April 2018.
