The President of the 72nd session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Miroslav Laj?ák, met today with H.E. Mr. Ri Yong Ho, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK). They discussed the situation on the Korean Peninsula.
The President conveyed the messages of concern of the wider membership with regards to the current situation. The President of the General Assembly underlined the obligation to adhere to the United Nations Charter and the necessity to uphold international commitments and resolutions of the Security Council. He encouraged DPRK not to further escalate the situation and demonstrate its willingness for dialogue and a peaceful solution to the crisis.
